Michael J. Madigan
Michael J. Madigan is a co-founder and partner in the firm of Madigan & Getzendanner.
Mr. Madigan is currently the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, a position he has held for 30 years, making him the longest serving Speaker in Illinois history and the longest serving State Speaker in the Nation. He has been the recipient of numerous “outstanding legislator” and “Man of the Year” awards from civic organizations, and is a highly sought guest lecturer on legislative and civic issues. Since 1998, he has been the Chairman of the Illinois State Democratic Party. In 1969–70, Mr. Madigan served as a delegate to the Illinois Constitution Convention which rewrote the Illinois Constitution. Prior thereto, he served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago and as a Hearing Officer for the Illinois Commerce Commission.
Mr. Madigan has been actively engaged in private practice since 1972, concentrating in ad valorem real estate taxation and administrative law. Throughout his years of experience, both in government and private practice, Mr. Madigan has established a reputation for credibility and forthrightness which has proved invaluable in advancing taxpayers’ claims before assessment bodies.
