Michael J. Madigan

Michael J. Madigan is a co-founder and partner in the firm of Madigan & Getzendanner.

Government Service

Mr. Madigan was the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives for 38 years, making him the longest serving State Speaker in the nation. He has been the recipient of number “outstanding legislator” awards and “Man of the Year” awards from civic organizations. He is also a highly sought guest lecturer on legislative and civic issues. Mr. Madigan also served as the Chairman of the Illinois State Democratic Party until 2021. Mr. Madigan served as a delegate to the Illinois Constitution Convention which rewrote the Illinois Constitution. Prior thereto, he served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago and as a Hearing Office for the Illinois Commerce Commission.

Private Practice

Mr. Madigan has been actively engaged in private practice since 1972, concentrating in ad valorem real estate taxation and administrative law. Throughout his years of experience, both in government and private practice, Mr. Madigan has established a reputation for credibility and forthrightness which has proved invaluable in advancing taxpayers’ claims before assessment bodies.
